Red Lake Code of Tribal Offenses
be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty days or to a fine not to exceed $60.00 or to both such imprisonment and fine, with cost.  Penalty imposed to be determined by the nature of the offense.

Section 16 - Cutting Timber without a Permit
     Any Indian who shall cut or cause to be cut any timber on the Red Lake Indian Reservation without first securing the proper permit and complying with all of the terms and conditions of said permit , shall be deemed to be guilty of an offense and upon conviction thereof shall be sentenced to imprisonment not to exceed sixty days or a fine not to exceed $120.00 or both such imprisonment and fine with cost.  All timber so cut may be confiscated and sold for the benefit of the Tribe and the right to obtain a permit to cut or take timber may be suspended for a period not to exceed one year.  Penalty imposed to be determined by the nature of the offense.

Section 17 - Child Care
     Any Indian parent or other Indian having a legal obligation for the care, custody or control of any child or children of minor age, who shall leave or permit such child or children to remain at home, on the streets of the villages, or in a public place on the Red Lake Indian Reservation unattended, shall be deemed guilty of an offense and upon conviction thereof shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty days or to a fine not to exceed $60.00 or to both such imprisonment and fine with cost.  This section does not apply in a case where such child or children, being of a suitable age, are engaged in errands, school, or useful employment or where such child or children are under the supervision of a competent adult person.  In the event that such child or children while so unattended, shall do or cause damage to the person or property of another, such parent or other person having the legal obligation for such child or children shall be fully liable for all the damage caused.  Penalty to be determined by the nature of the offense.  A minor is defined as a child who is under 18 years of age.
