Indian
Uprising is a one-half hour program
concerned with sober and meaningful issues by, for and about America
Indian people, broadcasting each Sunday. Indian Uprising's
initial program was on Feb. 16th, starting with a series about the
Indian Child Welfare Law Center in Minneapolis and the Indian Child
Welfare Act. The federal law was enacted to protect Indian
children
and provide an appropriate cultural environment.
Spotted
Eagle said, "regular
programming about Indian issues on other radio stations here in the
Twin Cities are nonexistent. Indian Uprising will broadcast
unheard voices for the first time."
Program
producer Chris Spotted Eagle is a long-time
resident and activist in Minneapolis. His current activities regarding
social change, protection of civil liberties and human rights include
being an active board member of the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union,
the National Lawyers Guild Minnesota Chapter, and on the advisory board
of the Community United Against Police Brutality. He was a TV
producer
at Twin Cities Public Television and is an award winning independent
filmmaker.
