The Rodiya: Outcaste People of Sri Lanka

Rodiya children played among the many trunks of a single banyan tree in Waduressa. The first school in any Rodiya village was held under this tree while a government work camp finished the school building. A Rodiya village, like those of other Sri Lankan people in the highlands, is very spread out, with houses, fields, trees, and patches of jungle intermingled, so this could be called a village scene.
