These names are 'coded' with a phonetic rendition of nineteenth-century government and missionaries'
transcription of the sounds of Ahnishinahbæótjibway, Ojibwe, Cree and other languages.  The initial intent, as we began computerization of our data in the 1980s, was to make it easier to find a person whose name was spelled variously - using computer searches.  The current 'sorting' is an artifact of Microsoft's programming.
